Best of Houzz 2024 - Client Satisfaction

We're thrilled to be recognized as a Best of Houzz top-rated general contractor

Constructive Alternatives was first established in the '90s to shift our general contractor's hotel and high-rise expertise towards earth-sheltered, net zero, and off-grid luxury homes, ranches, world-class recording studios, monasteries, and sanctuaries.

It’s been our life’s work honing and refining our construction trades and renewable systems practices while creating some phenomenal commercial, residential, and executive aviation hangar structures.

We've earned an ICC Class A General Contractor's license (building unlimited) and over four decades of experience completing more award-winning, eclectic, green-built homes and ranches than we can count. Our clients, partners, and teams have also been able to leverage our GC's past experience leading huge crews as the superintendent for iconic buildings such as downtown Denver's 30-story Tabor Center, Denver Tech Center's 10-story Empower Retirement Triple Towers; picturesque Vail Marriott Mountain Resort; and the highly energy-efficient Boulder County Justice Center and Boulder County Jail.

All told, we've built, remodeled, or "renewably" energized hundreds of homes, commercial properties, executive hangars, earth-sheltered dwellings, sound studios, and luxury housing developments.

Our sweet spot is combining high performance building envelopes with renewable energy, HRV/ERV, battery storage, smart home, and reclaimed water systems. We love erecting high R-value, super strong structures that use recycled or sustainably-sourced building products like insulated concrete forms and cross-laminated timber. It's extra sweet when we can install geothermal and solar thermal hydronic in-floor heating. How about connecting HRV/ERV air handlers for healthy indoor environments? For off-grid homes, pools, and remote commercial projects, let us help design and install renewable power systems (solar PV, wind, and micro-hydro) with battery back-up.

There's something special about collaborating with cutting edge visionaries, architects, artisans, designers, developers, engineers, entrepreneurs, sustainability advocates, DIY-ers, homeowners, and "CAN DO-ers." These are the kind of people that we can best support with customizing a smart, energy-efficient, and strong building that harnesses all types of renewable resources.

The magic happens when we have the opportunity to work with others who want to
